Long outlawed in many countries and seen as a dangerous vice, gambling has found its way into everyone’s home and a lot of people’s life through the Internet. Casino online websites have been flourishing all over the World Wide Web and gambling has never been this popular.
It’s amazing to behold how a success story can change someone’s view on something. I strongly believe that if 5 years ago someone said that he made 500$ a month gambling he’d be qualified as a deviant. But now, because people do it online, in the comfort of their homes and in a safe environment, it’s suddenly not as bad – in fact, it’s an interesting way to pass time and make a few extra bucks in the process. Of course, not everybody wins – but that’s true for everything. I’m personally guilty of enjoying doing some gambling, be it with friends or online – sometimes with friends online – and it’s a “vice” like any other.
Nothing spells “online gambling” like poker. More precisely, Texas Hold’em. I’d actually never heard about that sort of poker until I found it online – I guess it wasn’t as popular in my neck of the woods as five card stud. But the sheet excitement and x-factor of the game quickly got me hooked to it – in a good sense. I now have a monthly commitment with my friends to meet up and play it (with monopoly money though) and an almost weekly commitment with a couple of other friends to play in an online room.
